President’s Message
(Interim President – 2025–2026)
It is with a deep sense of responsibility, humility, and commitment that I address you as the Interim President of the Income Tax Bar Association for the year 2025–2026.
This transition in leadership has arisen due to the unfortunate yet unavoidable circumstances under which CA Maulik Patel, our elected President, was constrained to tender his resignation midway through his tenure owing to pressing personal reasons. While the situation is indeed unfortunate, it is important to place on record our profound appreciation for his selfless service, dedication, and constructive contribution to this esteemed Association. During his tenure, he consistently worked with sincerity, integrity, and an inclusive approach, always keeping the larger interest of the fraternity at heart. The Association acknowledges his efforts with gratitude and wishes him strength and success in all his future endeavors.
The Income Tax Bar Association, since its glorious inception in 1947, has stood as a beacon of professional excellence, ethical conduct, and intellectual leadership. Over the decades, this Association has nurtured generations of tax professionals, contributed meaningfully to the development of tax jurisprudence, and played a pivotal role in fostering dialogue between the Bar, the Bench, and the administration. Upholding this rich legacy is not merely a tradition—it is a solemn duty entrusted to each one of us.
As we move forward, the Association has charted an ambitious yet purposeful roadmap for the coming year. Among the key forthcoming initiatives is the Two-Day Tax Conclave, a flagship joint program of the Income Tax Bar Association (ITBA) and the All Gujarat Federation of Tax Consultants (AGFTC). This conclave aims to provide a robust platform for in-depth deliberations on contemporary tax issues, practical challenges, and emerging trends, while encouraging interaction among professionals from across the State and beyond.
Another significant initiative is the Residential Refresher Course at Mahuabagh Resort, Kumbhalgarh from 9th to 11th January 2026. The real essence of this program lies not only in imparting advanced technical knowledge but also in strengthening professional bonding, camaraderie, and mutual respect among members—values that are the backbone of a strong professional fraternity.
The Kardata Jagruti Abhiyan continues to remain one of the most impactful and socially relevant programs of the Association. This initiative reflects our commitment towards spreading tax awareness among the general public, promoting voluntary compliance, and reinforcing the role of professionals as responsible stakeholders in nation-building.
In keeping with its tradition of staying ahead of the curve, the Association proposes to organize a GST Knowledge Series integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the month of January. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between evolving statutory provisions and rapidly advancing technology.
The series will focus on leveraging AI-driven tools for GST compliance, litigation management, data analytics, risk assessment, and automation of routine professional tasks, thereby enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and strategic decision-making for tax professionals.
Further, the Association shall organize its Budget Meeting in February, immediately following the presentation of the Union Budget. This meeting will provide members with comprehensive analysis, practical insights, and informed perspectives on the provisions and implications of the forthcoming Budget.
One of the most visionary initiatives on the horizon is the pilot project of owning a combined office of ITBA and AGFTC. This step symbolizes unity, institutional strength, and long-term sustainability. It is a progressive move aimed at creating a permanent professional space that will serve as a hub for knowledge, interaction, and collective growth.
At this crucial juncture, it is imperative that we collectively strive to maintain the sanctity, dignity, and glorious past of this Association. The strength of ITBA has always rested on its values—professional ethics, mutual respect, democratic functioning, and intellectual honesty. Preserving these ideals while adapting to changing times will be our foremost priority.
On a personal note, the Income Tax Bar Association has played a pivotal role in shaping my professional journey and in creating my identity as a tax professional. Whatever recognition or standing I enjoy today is deeply intertwined with the guidance, opportunities, and fraternity this Association has provided me. I therefore reaffirm, with utmost sincerity, that I shall always serve this Association whenever the need arises, with unwavering commitment and devotion.
I seek the cooperation, guidance, and blessings of all senior members, colleagues, and young professionals as we work together to carry forward the proud legacy of the Income Tax Bar Association.
With warm regards and best wishes,
Dr. (Adv.) Kartikey B. Shah
Interim President
